The MAKING OF

New Orleans Burlesque Producer Rick Delaup (Bustout Burlesque, STRUT, and The Annual New Orleans Burlesque Festival), along with the Original Evangeline, Kitty West, set out to recreate the Evangeline the Oyster Girl act over 15 years ago. Their search for a new Oyster Girl was largely unsuccessful. It even brought the duo to San Francisco in 2002, where they teamed up with Dita Von Teese and held an open audition. However, it was not until 2012 that they finally found what they were looking for! Burlesque dancer Ginger Lee Valentine, who splits her time between Dallas and New Orleans, had the right look, and all the right moves! A trained dancer, Ginger is a master of the art of striptease, performing sensual bumps and grinds as effective as the great burlesque dancers of the 1950s. It’s no wonder Ginger Valentine won the coveted title “Queen of Burlesque” at the New Orleans Burlesque Festival in 2011.  The Oyster Girl costume was made by Black Mariah. The Oyster Shell was made by Studio 3, Inc.  Photos of Ginger Valentine as Evangeline were shot on location by Kaylin Idora. Stage photos by AKoch Photography.
